Happy World Nutella Day!!!!

Probably one of the happiest days of the year!!! Haha, no food (okay maybe besides chili chicken) brings me more joy than Nutella. My two year old niece and I eat nutella with sliced strawberries on an english muffin every night for dessert so it's also sentimental for me:)

Hope you all treat yourself to a yummy treat of it today!:))

Lama al-Ghamdi

Such a sad story to write about but the only way to have such incredibly horrific situations stop is through becoming aware and educating ourselves.

This little 5 year old girl was raped and beaten to death by her father, a prominent Saudi preacher. In Saudi Arabia, the man was sentenced to a few months in jail and a $50,000 fine (half the usual amount because the victim was a girl). The man had confessed all that he did to his daughter including using cables and a cane to inflict injuries and was still given an almost nothing sentence.

Such a sad sad story. Thinking of this little girl today.

I pray one day females around the world will be treated with the utmost respect and kindness, I pray I get to see that day as it seems so far away.

India Gang Rape

As much as I love my Motherland, India, I am overcome with deep sadness at the country's attitude towards women.

On December 16th, a 23 year-old woman and her male friend were taking the bus from the movies in Delhi. She was gang raped for nearly an hour by 6 men, beaten with iron bars and tossed out of a moving bus onto the street.

Can you imagine? Being raped on a moving bus and no one does anything...what type of world is that? Not one made for a woman. The Indian culture needs to learn to respect its women more, to not treat them as inferior to the male species.

When my brother and I visited tombs in India, you could always tell which was for a male and which for a female because the male tomb was always higher than the female one.

I hope this tragic story awakens the people of India and helps them realize that women too are human beings, and are NOT inferior to men.

Elementary School Shooting

I haven't written an entry in a long time but felt the deep need to write one today.

On Friday, December 14, 2012 a 20 year old took a gun into an elementary school and shot and killed 20 children and 6 staff members.

My heart is broken. When innocent little children are being murdered in your nation, when they were simply at school, you feel your country, your world, is at war.

Debates have started again on gun control or media coverage, however no one can deny that something needs to change in our country. We have to stand up for the innocent and say enough is enough, no more murders please. We are tired of worrying about being shot at in a school, in a movie theatre or in a mall. No more please.

It will be a hard thing to push for more gun control in America, as people fear their rights being taken away, however there must be something we can do different. No one wants to see anymore innocent people die because we acted too late as a nation. Please let's all stand up and ask for change.

To the families who lost their children on this past tragic Friday, our thoughts and prayers are with you. We can not even fathom what you are going through but know that we are here for you. May your children rest in peace.
